I have been planning a trip to crater lake with my dad for what feels like forever. They got record snowfall last year, and there were still a few feet of snow on the ground, not really thin enough to make the trip enjoyable, so we switched locations to Pagosa Springs, CO. the trip was awesome. But of course with views like this, who wouldn’t secretly be thinking about Crater Lake?

It’s looking like the end of summer will be ideal for a week long trip, hopefully starting somewhere 60-70miles-ish away from the crater and finish up with a few days at the rim. I’m pumped. I think the only thing missing from my backpack to make it happen is the Leica D-LUX4

It’s a sweet upgrade from the D-LUX 3 which I suggested for a friend who was traveling Europe a while back. I like the flip of the switch aspect ratio change a lot. And the fact that it (plust a handful of batteries) would be at least 6lbs lighter than my 20d + lens + batteries is a huge plus. I’m toying with the idea of creating a GPS tracking solution for the trip so (in possibly near real time) you could track our progress. Have any insight there? Know someone who does? Please please let me know.

Later all.
