Cabriolet

A few years back a good friend of mine let me spend the weekend with her and her family. We pal’d around a lot, ate good mexican food, and I took probably 100 photos of her darling baby sister. I saw what I imagine her father had intended to be her first car. I was in love. pretty much at first sight.

Years went past, and I had almost forgotten about the car. One night late, I had a thought about it and asked if it was still around. Well turns out it was. Here’s a crappy iPhone shot of my new 1992 VW Cabrio. Runs like a champ, hopefully it’ll make a few appearances soon in the office parking lot.

Didn’t sleep much last night. I’ll try to be more thought provoking later.

First day installation woes. *Fixed!*

It’s fixed, apparently I left my post name structure pointing to a directory that wasn’t there. Silly Landon.

Sunday is usually laundry day. Today was par for the course. I’ve spent most of the day on one of the 9 computers in my living room. I’ve been jumping back and forth between work and this blog. Tweak this.. delete that.. typical nitpicking.
In the process I realized the comment feature is pretty much worthless at the moment. This theme was built for versions much earlier than 2.7, in fact the version referenced in the release post for HemmingwayEX was 2.3. So it’s looking more and more like I’m going to have to piece meal the comments.php back together. All that to say if you try to comment… at the moment you’ll wind up at the 404 page. sadface. I went ahead and disabled them for the time being.
The theme has some really slick functionality for the comments, and with WP 2.7’s ability to paginate, and nest comments, I think it will be cool. Then there’s the whole ‘but it’s still broke’ thing, but it’s a little too late tonight for me to worry about it. Hopefully this week I’ll manage to unbreak stuff.

Getting around to getting online..

It’s been a really long time since I put any effort into my stale stale web presence. It’s been bothering me lately. So here I am. throwing a theme I have barely researched on a tidy new wordpress install. I wanted something clean, that will be fun to customize later on. Quick search through some bookmarks lead me to nalinmakar.com for the HemmingwayEx theme. At the moment I’m still working out the kinks, but I like where it’s headed. Here’s to my bright bright future on the interwebs.
