Sapele shoe bench on the workbench: slatted top, slatted lower shelf, splayed legs with through-tenons.

Sapele Shoe Bench (in progress)

Sapele shoe bench, off the bench and ready for finish. Two-tier, slatted top and lower shelf, wedged through-tenons in the splayed legs. The sapele behaved as expected: interlocked grain that wants to tear out under a hand plane and stays clean under a sharp scraper. I left a soft chamfer on every leg foot so it doesn't snag a sock on the way past. Once it's oiled, the orange in the heartwood will deepen toward the color of old mahogany; I'll save final photos for after that. The title says in progress because there's always finishing left.
