A pile of long springy drill-press shavings on the workbench, red Bessey clamps holding the work fence in foreground.

Drill press fluff. Most of an afternoon spent boring dog holes (five-eighths bit, hard maple, slow speed, peck-drilling so the bit didn't burn), and this is what the table looked like by the end. Long springy curls instead of dust. They smelled like good firewood. The Bessey clamps in the foreground are holding the alignment fence that kept each hole on the same grid; that fence saved me from at least one bad row. Holes still need to be chamfered top and bottom before I can call them done.
