Top of a portable joinery bench: hard maple with cherry and walnut accent strips, clamped in the leg vise for edge planing.

portable joinery bench build (in progress)

Top of the portable joinery bench, glued and standing up in the leg vise so I can flatten the gluing edge for the next lamination. The body is hard maple, with thin strips of cherry and a single stripe of walnut placed where the dog holes will eventually drill. Cosmetic, but it gives me a visual grid to hang the layout off when I drill. The No. 7 is taking off curls thinner than printer paper now that the iron is freshly honed. One more lamination to go, then I can flip it on its long edge and start in on the leg mortises.
