A slatted two-tier shoe bench in sapele sitting on the dog-hole workbench between roundover passes.

shoe bench roundover (in progress)

Sapele shoe bench, moved over to the dog-hole table for the last detail pass. Today is roundovers, every leg edge, every slat top corner, taking a one-eighth round on the bearing-guided bit so nothing feels sharp underfoot or against a sock. Sapele behaves itself on a roundover if the bit is sharp and the feed is slow; lean on it and the interlocked grain tears out on the trailing edge. After this it gets one more sanding through 220 to soften the transitions where the bit lifted off, then oil.
